Beginning with a performance in her native Bulgaria, Sonya Yoncheva embarks on an extended multi-city tour throughout Europe over the 2017/18 season, as the featured soloist in Verdi Gala Concerts at some of the continent's most premiere venues. Programme highlights include selections from Don Carlos, Luisa Miller, and more, with concerts at the NDK Sofia (June 18), the Grand Théâtre de Genève (February 4, 2018), the Konzerthaus Dortmund with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and conductor Francesco Ciampa (February 7, 2018), the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with Massimo Zanetti and the Orchestre National de Montpellier (June 1, 2018) and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with the Sinfonieorchester Basel & Maestro Zanetti (June 3, 2018). She is joined by her brother, tenor Marin Yonchev, for performances on this tour; Mr. Yonchev sings arias and duets on the programme alongside Ms. Yoncheva. Future tour engagements will take them to venues in Berlin, Leipzig, Lucerne, and more.
Ms. Yoncheva will also make her role debuts in the Verdi works mentioned above as part of her current season. She debuts as Élisabeth de Valois in a new production of Don Carlos with Opéra National de Paris (October 10 - November 11) and the title role in Luisa Miller at The Metropolitan Opera (March 29 - April 21).
