Sonya Yoncheva returns to ROH as Tosca
Sonya Yoncheva returns to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, presenting for the first time on the legendary London stage her acclaimed portrayal of Tosca. The performances on July 14, 17 and 21 also feature Yusif Eyvazov and Aleksei Isaev in the other leading roles and are conducted by Andrea Battistoni. The staging is by Jonathan Kent.
Since her 2017 role debut at the Metropolitan Opera, Tosca has become Sonya Yoncheva’s most performed part. The Bulgarian superstar soprano made her ROH debut as Musetta in La bohème in 2013, returning as Marguerite in Faust, Violetta in La traviata, Micaëla in Carmen, the title role in a new production of Norma, as Antonia in Les contes d’Hoffmann and most recently as Mimì in La bohème in 2020.
