On April 12, 2023, Sonya Yoncheva returns to her native Bulgaria, more precisely to the Bulgaria Hall in Sofia, with a concert entirely devoted to the music of George Frideric Handel, under the baton of Zefira Valova leading the “Art of the Baroque” orchestra. Sonya’s vocal contributions include “Ombra mai fu” from Serse, “Non disperar, chi sa?” and “Se pietà di me non senti” from Giulio Cesare , “Ah, mio con schernito sei” and “Tornami a vagheggiar” from Alcina, “With darkness deep” from Theodora and “Lascia ch’io pianga” from Rinaldo. The orchestra will also perform the Overture from Rinaldo, Concerto Grosso in F Major, op.3, No.4, HWV 315, and the Passacaille from Radamisto.

Sonya Yoncheva was an alumna of William Christie’s Le Jardin des Voix and enjoys performing her beloved Baroque repertoire with constant regularity, just as she did last fall with three concerts in France at Château de Versailles, Chapelle de la Trinité, Lyon, and La Coursive Grand Théâtre, La Rochelle.
