Sonya Yoncheva returns to Arena di Verona as Tosca
Reprising one of her most celebrated roles, Sonya Yoncheva is back at the Arena di Verona to perform the title part of Puccini’s Tosca on August 5 and 10, 2023. In Hugo De Ana’s staging and conducted by Maestro Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Sonya shares the stage with Vittorio Grigolo as Cavaradossi and Roman Burdenko as Scarpia.
This is the beginning of a series of Tosca performances that will also lead her to Switzerland, Germany, and Japan. At the end of the month, Sonya will perform the role of the Roman diva at the Gstaad Festival and at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, while in September, the superstar soprano will embark on a Japan tour with the Rome Opera House, singing the character in Yokohama and Tokyo, where she will also appear in a solo concert.
Sonya made her role debut as Tosca in the 2017/18 season in a new production at the Metropolitan Opera and has since then reprised the part in Berlin, Vienna, Munich and Zurich.
