Caracalla Festival debut as Tosca
Sonya Yoncheva makes her debut at the famed Caracalla Festival in Rome, singing her signature role of Tosca on July 24 and 31. Located at the ancient Baths of Caracalla, the open-air festival is being organised every year by the Rome Opera House. This new production of Tosca is by Francesco Micheli, with Antonino Fogliani conducting. Sonya teams up again with Vittorio Grigolo as Cavaradossi, returning to perform together as the protagonists of Puccini’s masterpiece following the Japan tour of the Fondazione Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in September last year. Roberto Frontali is performing the role of Scarpia.
After the performances in Rome, Sonya will reprise the part at the Royal Opera House in London and at the Wiener Staatsoper next season.
