Handel Concerts at the Pollença and Santander Festivals
Sonya Yoncheva returns to Spain this month to perform at the Pollença (August 16) and Santander Festivals (August 18). She appears with the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal of Versailles under the direction of Stefan Plewniak.
The program focuses on the music of Georg Friedrich Händel, with Yoncheva singing some of his most celebrated arias, including “Ombra mai fu” (Serse), “Se pietà di me non senti” (Giulio Cesare), “With darkness deep” (Theodora), “Lascia ch’io pianga” (Rinaldo), and “Tornami a vagheggiar” (Alcina). The Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal of Versailles also performs Arcangelo Corelli’s Concerto Grosso No. 4.
