Open-air performance of “Tosca” in Warsaw
On 28 June 2026, Sonya Yoncheva will take on one her signature role of Tosca in a special open-air concert performance on Plac Centralny in Warsaw.
Presented by Teatr Studio im. Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza, Sinfonia Varsovia and the National Philharmonic, this extraordinary production brings Puccini’s dramatic score to a unique setting. Making her Polish debut, Sonya Yoncheva will appear alongside Jonathan Tetelman as Mario Cavaradossi and George Gagnidze as Baron Scarpia. The cast is completed by young artists selected in collaboration with the Opera Academy of Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera. The Sinfonia Varsovia, the Choir of the National Philharmonic and the Children’s Choir “Artos” will be conducted by Bassem Akiki.
This open-air Tosca continues Sonya Yoncheva’s deep connection with Puccini’s heroine, a role she has performed on many of the world’s most prestigious stages. In August, Sonya will bring Tosca to another spectacular open-air setting: the square in front of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia, Bulgaria. This special performance will be organised by SY11 Productions as part of its mission to create unique musical experiences and bring opera closer to new audiences.
