DESDEMONA IN “OTELLO” AT BERLIN PHILHARMONIE
On April 25 and 28, Sonya Yoncheva will join Zubin Mehta and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello at the Philharmonie Berlin. The performances will also feature Arsen Soghomonyan, Luca Salsi and Francesco Demuro in the main roles, and the Berlin Rundfunkchor. Sonya has received glowing reviews for her performances as Desdemona in Robert Wilson’s new staging at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden earlier this month, praised by critics for her “strong, dark, even combative tones” (BR-Klassik) as well as her “luminous lyricism” (Musik Heute) and “finely spun pianissimo high notes” (NZZ).
