Dido and Aeneas in Toulouse, Versailles, Madrid & Oviedo
Sonya Yoncheva will reprise the role of Dido in Dido and Aeneas. Starting October 7 at the Opéra national du Capitole Toulouse, Sonya will perform Purcell’s masterwork with the Orchestra of the Opéra Royal of Versailles led by Stefan Plewniak and Members of the Royal Opera Academy. Following the one-off concert in Toulouse, the opera will be performed in a staged production by Cécile Roussat and Julien Lubek on October 18, 19 and 20 at the Opéra Royal at the Castle of Versailles. The production will travel to Spain for concert performances at the Auditorio Nacional de Música of Madrid on October 24 and at the Auditorio Principe Felipe of Oviedo on the 26th.
Sonya has previously performed Dido with Les Arts Florissants and William Christie in New York City, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Valladolid, among others, and returns to the role after more than ten years.
