Gala Concert at the Reggia di Caserta

Sonya Yoncheva continues her little tour through Italy with a Gala Concert alongside Vittorio Grigolo and Daniel Oren conducting the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Teatro Verdi of Salerno. The concert is part of the open-air summer festival Un’estate da Re at the Reggia di Caserta, an 18th century royal residence, the world’s largest of its kind and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The programme includes music by Bizet, Donizetti, Puccini and Verdi, with Sonya performing the Habanera from Carmen, “Tacea la notte placida” from Il trovatore, “Un bel dì vedremo” from Madama Butterfly, the act one duet between Tosca and Cavaradossi from Tosca and the final scene of the first act of La bohème with Vittorio Grigolo.

Sonya sang her first complete opera after the lockdown last month at the Maggio Musicale of Florence as the title role of La traviata and subsequently starred in a Gala Concert celebrating Puccini in the composer’s home-town Lucca. Other appearances in Italy after this concert in Caserta include her return to the Arena di Verona in a gala concert dedicated to Love.
