Médée at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden
Sonya Yoncheva returns to the role of Cherubini’s Médée in four performances at the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden in February 2020. In the same Andrea Breth staging, the superstar soprano made her acclaimed role debut as the vengeful sorceress, opening the 2018/19 season of the prestigious German opera house. After the premiere, the Financial Times lauded her as being “a stage animal to her last molecule” and for her “extraordinary range of colour and passion”.
In this revival, Sonya shares the stage with Francesco Demuro, Iain Paterson, Slávka Zámečníková and Marina Prudenskaya in the other main roles. Oksana Lyniv conducts the performances on February 8, 12, 15 and 21.
