Mimì in “La bohème” at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden

In January 2020, Sonya Yoncheva will return to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in her first London performances as Mimì in La bohème. The performance on January 29 will be screened by many international cinemas. Mimì is one of Sonya’s most performed roles, having earned her accolades at many of the world’s most important stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, where she made her role debut in 2014, the Paris Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, the Staatsoper Berlin and the Bayerische Staatsoper of Munich.

Sonya returns to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden after her highly acclaimed portrayals of Norma and Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann in the 2016/17 season. She made her Covent Garden debut in 2013 as Musetta in the previous John Copley staging of La bohème.

In this Richard Jones production which premiered in the 2017/18 season, she will sing under the baton of Emmanuel Villaume, and with Charles Castronovo, Andrzej Filonczyk, Aida Garifullina and Gyula Nagy in the other main roles. There will be six performances on January 14, 17, 20, 23 and 29, 2019.
