“Norma” in Gstaad and Baden-Baden
In August, Sonya Yoncheva returns to one of her most acclaimed roles: Bellini’s Norma. She will appear in two semi-staged performances – on August 22 at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and on August 24 at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. Domingo Hindoyan conducts the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, with a distinguished cast including Karine Deshayes (Adalgisa), Stefan Pop (Pollione), Alexander Vinogradov (Oroveso), Marin Yonchev (Flavio), and Kristine Klein (Clotilde).
Sonya first performed the Druid priestess in 2016 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and has since taken the role to the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Munich Opera Festival. In this upcoming 2025/26 season, she will also sing Norma at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
