“Opera e Passione” at the Arena di Verona
Sonya Yoncheva returns to the Arena di Verona for the Gala Opera e Passione, closing the renowned festival’s 2020 season. On August 29, Sonya will share the stage with Vittorio Grigolo, Mihaela Marcu and Davide Luciano, singing arias, duets and scenes from Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Puccini’s Tosca and La Bohème as well as Massenet’s Manon. Plácido Domingo will conduct.
Sonya returns to the Arena di Verona after an absence of seven years, having made her Arena debut in a Verdi Gala in 2013.
In 2021, she will be back in Verona as Violetta in La Traviata and in the title part of Aida, making her role debut conducted by Riccardo Muti to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opera.
