Recital at the Metropolitan Opera

On January 23, Sonya Yoncheva will join the rank of select superstars who have performed a recital on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera. On the occasion, Sonya will present her programme Ad una Stella, with which she has enchanted audiences all over Europe, from Paris to Madrid and Bucharest, Munich, Monte-Carlo, Toulouse, Valencia or the Salzburg Festival.

Sonya will be accompanied by Malcolm Martineau on the piano and will sing music by Verdi, Puccini, Duparc, Chausson and other Italian and French composers.

The Metropolitan Opera put on the first recital in its prestigious history in 1982 when James Levine launched a series which started with him on the piano and Frederica von Stade and Nicolai Gedda. This was followed by about a dozen of recitals until now, with star turns of singers such as Renata Scotto, Christa Ludwig, Kiri Te Kanawa, Leontyne and Margaret Price, Luciano Pavarotti or Joan Sutherland.
