Sonya Yoncheva opens new season of Bayerische Staatsoper

On September 16, Sonya Yoncheva opens the 2022/2023 season of the Bayerische Staatsoper. Starting at 19:00h, the open-air concert “Oper für alle” takes place at the Mangfallpark Süd in Rosenheim and features Sonya singing arias and duets with tenor Freddie De Tommaso. Daniele Rustioni leads the orchestra of the Bayerische Staatsoper.

The program includes music from Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Massenet’s Le Cid, Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and Verdi’s La forza del destino.

Sonya returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper following previous star turns as Violetta in La traviata, Mimì in La bohème and in the title role of Tosca. This year in July, Sonya performed an acclaimed Handel concert within the Bayerische Staatsoper’s Munich Opera Festival. She has also appeared in the 2018 “Oper für alle” concert at the Munich Marstallplatz.
