Sonya Yoncheva Returns to the Royal Chapel of Versailles for a Christmas Concert

Sonya Yoncheva is set to return to the Royal Chapel at the Château de Versailles for another unforgettable Christmas concert. Following the success of last year’s performance, she will once again present a program featuring works by Handel, Gounod, Mascagni, Webber, Berlin, Adam, and Mohr, with Stefan Plewniak conducting the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal.

For those unable to attend, last year’s celebrated concert will be streamed on France.TV Culturbox on December 25 at 9 p.m. CET, as well as on STAGE+ at 12 p.m., 8 p.m. (December 25) and 2 a.m. (December 26).

Last year, Ôlyrix praised the performance, writing: “Whether in an aria from Handel’s Messiah or Gounod’s Messe solennelle de Sainte Cécile, Sonya Yoncheva’s golden voice visibly sweeps the listener away with its simple magnificence, the silky velvet that covers the entire tessitura, and the imposing, captivating vocal amplitude that fills the acoustic space of the Chapelle Royale.” Similarly, Cult.news raved about “the divine Sonya Yoncheva in this enchanting setting steeped in history and riches, a magnificent backdrop for a soprano who never ceases to seduce us. We were so happy to welcome her back to Paris for this superb Christmas concert.”
