Sonya Yoncheva sings 50th Tosca in Berlin

On January 15, 2026, Sonya Yoncheva will sing her 50th performance of Tosca at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden’s season premiere of Puccini’s masterwork. The series of six performances, conducted by Giuseppe Mentuccia, will take place on January 15, 17, 21, 24, 28 and 30, all beginning at 7:30 pm, with Vittorio Grigolo (Cavaradossi), Christopher Maltman (Scarpia), Carles Pachon (Angelotti), Hanseong Yun (Mesner), Florian Hoffmann (Spoletta), Irakli Pkhaladze (Sciarrone) and Manuel Winckhler (Kerkermeister) completing the cast.

Sonya Yoncheva has starred as the Roman Diva around the world. Following her role debut during the 2017/18 season in a new production at the Metropolitan Opera, she has sung the part at the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Zurich Opera House, the Royal Opera House, London, the Arena di Verona, and the Caracalla Festival in Rome, as well as in Japan with the Rome Opera House in Tokyo and Yokohama. In her native Bulgaria, she has appeared as Tosca in Varna and Plovdiv.

This marks her third run of Tosca in Alvis Hermanis’s staging at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, following previous appearances in 2019 and 2024.
