“Tosca” at Ancient Theatre of Plovdiv

Sonya Yoncheva is singing her first complete opera at the magical Ancient Theatre of her home town Plovdiv on June 4. The gala concert of Tosca, celebrating the 100th Puccini anniversary and the 70th anniversary of the State Opera Plovdiv, also features Ivan Momirov as Cavaradossi, Deyan Vatchkov as Scarpia and Bozhidar Bozhkilov as Angelotti, among others. Krastin Nastev conducts.

This season, Sonya Yoncheva has performed Tosca in Tokyo and Yokohama as well as at the Berlin State Opera. She will star as the Roman Diva in summer at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and at the Caracalla Festival in Rome.

In Bulgaria, Sonya will next appear in August at the Summer Theatre of Varna in two other iconic Puccini roles, as Mimì in La bohème and the title role of Madama Butterfly.
